- I don’t know why, but I am inexorably drawn to lures that flutter as they drop. Yes, it’s most likely a problem that I am going to have to deal with in later life, but take a look at this new(ish) 33g IMA BarbarossA and tell me I am not alone. These kinds of lures just seem to make a lot of sense to me for those times when you need to cover a bit of water and can either let the lure flutter/shimmer as it drops, or otherwise sink and draw it when the water is that bit shallower. I have been out to have a little play with this lure (for research purposes of course), and not only does it cast great, but it really does flutter and shimmer big time as it sinks. I have some high hopes for this one………
- But what really drives me towards this thing is the fact that you can wind it in nice and easy and it moves with a fairly wide slalom kind of action which I know is going to catch me some bass this year. On the retrieve you can make the BarbarossA swim pretty shallow as well, and I can pretty much visualise a bunch of places where this thing is going to be let loose. Purely for research of course.

- What I also really want to find out this year is if these fluttering-type hard lures can do some damage on the pollack. I can’t see why they would not, but I have yet to really use them when I have been out pollack fishing – and I have a few plans to try and spend a bit more time this year chasing these fish. I really like shore fishing for them, and when they are really on it gives one the chance to experiment with lures to see which works the best. I also got to catch my first few pollack last year off the top which I distinctly remember made my morning.......
