Daiwa
What an awesome fishing tackle company, and I mean the guys in Japan, France and of course the UK. Some of the best rods, lines and reels you can get your hands on, and those Daiwa Japan bass lures are seriously tidy as well. Daiwa make the Morethan Branzino rods, and that in itself is enough to put them right up there. I am too embarrassed to admit to the number of their SLOSH reels that I have here from my out and out shore fishing days, and over the last few years I have really fallen for some of their awesome spinning reels. Daiwa UK is here.

DUO
There is a reason why so many bass anglers especially carry at least one and possibly a bunch more Tide Minnows – they catch fish. I have a huge amount of time for DUO lures and I have to thank Mick at Mr. Fish in Jersey for introducing them to me. But don’t for one second think that DUO only make Tide Minnows. No way. Check out their website and drool. And all credit to DUO for doing an English version of their excellent website – check here.

Greys
Greys encompasses sea, game and coarse (freshwater) fishing under one roof and is generally regarded as offering some of the best designed, manufactured and thought-out fishing gear on the market today. Current shore rods such as the Platinum, Nitra and Apollo are at the cutting edge of UK beachcasting technology, whilst fly rods from the Platinum XD stable offer us mere mortals a taste of ultra modern fly rod design. Their clothing is simply outstanding. See the Greys website here.

IMA
Flat out one of my favourite lure brands. I can remember getting hold of my first ever IMA lures via the Bass Lures guys at one of the Game Fairs a few years back. I literally ran down to the casting lake to see how they looked in the water, and a week or so later I took them over to Ireland where they started catching bass for me immediately. Awesome lures, and I love the way that IMA does not stand still on the design front. Have a look at their website here.

MegaBass
I can’t speak highly enough of this Japanese fishing tackle company. Rods, reels, lures, lines, you name it, these guys seem to be interested only in making high-end gear that just smashes fish – and you have to respect that. Check out their website here.

Shimano
Shimano make the Stella. What more do I need to say ? It should be illegal to pick one up and turn the handle because you are going to have to have one afterwards. Sublime. How about the Rarenium spinning reel that has caught on so much here in the UK and Ireland for bass fishing ? And of course the immensely strong and smooth Trinidad multipliers that are probably responsible for most of the monster fish that are taken from the shores of South Africa. Class. Shimano’s website is here.
