11.11.11 - Remembrance Day

Today is of course Friday - as much as I always have plenty to rant about, somewhat more important than my letting off steam is the fact that today is Remembrance or Armistice Day. The fact that the FA were initially not going to allow the England football team to wear poppies during a match is perhaps the perfect subject for a big-time rant, but considering I don't even like football and that the matter has been "resolved", instead let's remember and pay our respects to the members of the armed forces who have died over the years in the line of duty. To pay the ultimate sacrifice is something that most of us can not even come close to understanding, and the fact that soldiers' bodies are so sadly still being flown home from places such as Afghanistan has to make us realise how lucky we are to live the way we do. The least we can do is to never forget the sacrifices that have been made on our behalf.
