Off to Ireland today.....

This trip seems to have come around really quickly. I am just about to pack up my car and head back over to southern Ireland today - I am travelling over with my mate Nick Hart, and we are both itching to see what might be possible if he gets a crack at the bass in some decent conditions. But then I know Nick, and he is an incredibly "open" fisherman - if location or conditions dictate, I know he is itching to really get into this whole lure fishing thing as well. We will see what happens......

I do know that Nick has managed to get his hands on one of the brand new (and not even in the shops yet) Hardy Sintrix 8 weight saltwater fly rods to bring over for this Irish trip, indeed he came back from the Tackle and Guns show on Monday kinda bouncing about these new rods. In a big, big way. Seems that this famous company has really got something very special indeed going on here. Great to see.

As per usual, I am taking the StenaLine ferry from Fishguard over to Rosslare - ferries do it for me. All that gear I can take in my car (and Nick does not travel light either, fly guys never do !!), with no annoying check-in person hassling me about weight restrictions and health and safety issues about putting a heavy camera bag in an overhead locker. We are going to be staying in Tramore this time. To me this place is kinda right in the middle of the whole southern Ireland bass thing - call it the "epicentre" if you like. On Sunday 24th (this Sunday !!), my mate Cian is having an Open Day at his new tackle shop "Absolute Fishing" in Tramore, and Nick and I will both be there - please come along and talk bass fishing with us. Not that we need any encouragement to do so, but it will be a blast. Check out details of when and where right here. Hope to see you there. Anyway, best go and pack the car up and hit the road. I will update the blog as much as possible, between fishing and photographing as much as we physically can of course............
